Peace Meditation Weekdays 7.30 - 8.00am Friday, June 29, 2007 (4 reads)
Everyone wants peace.
So much effort goes to bring peace but most people lack a practical method by
which to generate it. Peace cannot be legislated nor imposed. Peace cannot be
safeguarded by coalitions and military forces. Loving-kindness is the only real
cause of peace. The attitude of loving-kindness generates peace in the
individual, which in turn creates peace in the family, peace in the community,
peace within the nation, and in turn, peace within the world.
Maitreya
Buddha is the embodiment of loving kindness, the cause of peace. Maitreya Peace
meditation is a practical method by which anyone, of any, or even no religion,
can generate loving kindness, the real cause of peace. It is based on a
meditation that Lama Yeshe often led during his public talks around the
world. Cindy Armstrong will lead the
Maitreya Peace Meditation being conducted at the centre.

“When you are a Spiritual Program
Coordinator (SPC), you don’t have much time to yourself. It’s hard even to do a
retreat – instead you have to organize it, make sure it runs smoothly. On the
other hand”, says Claire over a delicious almond croissant, “the merit you
create by working for a Dharma centre is fantastic. It’s a credit card to
future lives.

Cosmic Revelations Friday, June 29, 2007 (243 reads)
I was sitting at a coffee shop in Claremont, waiting for my
sister to arrive for our weekly “catch up” session. I was reading the West Australian and saw an advertisement
for Venerable Robina Courtin. The titles of the talks were what peaked my
interest, especially “Don’t stay stuck!” Something like how to be rid of your
negative emotions… (thank you Claire, you saved my life!) Oh my God, I thought,
they certainly know what I need. I rang the phone number immediately to book my
place and left a message on answering machine. It was Jarka who called me back
and I raced in that day to pay. I wasn’t taking any chances! Jarka showed me
the range of free books and I took a copy of them all. I wanted to be well
prepared. I started to read a couple at once.
