Venerable Robina Returns Wednesday, August 29, 2007 (316 reads)
We are so fortunate that the one and only
Venerable Robina will return to teach at Hayagriva in October. These are events
you won’t want to miss. Belinda Edwards
remembers well Ven Robina’s last visit: “Thursday night, 5th October
06, I arrived at Hayagriva, took my place on a cushion and listened intently,
expecting some cosmic, mystical revelation to hit me between the eyes. Didn’t
happen. What did happen though, was a whirling dervish, pocket rocket of
enthusiasm and wisdom …… Venerable Robina. What an experience.” We are doubly
indebted to Ven Robina because she has a special concern for the success of our
Centre and has shared her experience and advice.
Ven Robina is the Director of the Liberation
Prison Project, a group offering Dharma books, materials and advice on request
from prisoners in the US, Australia and elsewhere. She is much in demand around
the world as a visiting teacher.

Hayagriva: Looking to the Future. Wednesday, August 29, 2007 (262 reads)
Rinpoche’s advice on a Geshe for
Hayagriva as well as Venerable Dondrub
teaching here suggests he sees the need for building on the strong teaching
program at Hayagriva to provide more courses with, and this is my presumption,
more students.
The last census information shows that
the number of people acknowledging themselves to be Buddhist is growing quite
rapidly. This means that we have to be able to meet the public’s interest in
hearing more about dharma. This in turn leads us into looking at how we present
the dharma, experimenting with different formats, teaching times and how we
advertise our program to members and the public.

Ven. Jampa Dekyi to Teach in Perth Wednesday, August 29, 2007 (260 reads)
When asked about
herself, Venerable Jampa Dekyi chuckled and said “I was the smallest baby ever
to survive in the Brisbane
Hospital when I was born
in 1945!” She also claims to have led a
fairly “normal” life even though Venerable lived in the Solomon Islands
for 25 years, married, became the mother of four children and operated a
business with her late husband.
