Saturday 30th August Saturday, August 23, 2008 (48 reads)
We are holding a 12 hour fast at the Centre next Saturday 30th August following the advice we have received from Kyabje Thubten Zopa Rinpoche, supporting the initiative of the Tibetan Government in Exile.
The purpose of the fast is to:
- Celebrate freedom of expression in this country and encourage people to speak out in a non violent way when they see the need arise. This action also recommits us to the non-violent path.
- Create merit for the long life of our teachers especially His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
- Bring blessings for those that have suffered torture and death due to repression around the world, particularly in Tibet, or have created the acts of repression and torture.
- Reduce our own defilements and create wisdom and compassion in the minds of the oppressed and oppressors.
