What is Discovering Buddhism?

Hayagriva is affiliated with the FPMT, a Buddhist organisation with over 160 affiliated centres, monasteries, nunneries, retreat centres, and charitable projects around the world. The FPMT has created Discovering Buddhism, a structured curriculum aimed specifically at newcomers to Buddhism. Discovering Buddhism has 13 modules. Modules are self-contained and can be taken in any order. Each module is taught over several sessions (one per week) and ends with a “retreat”. The “retreat” is an intensive practical conclusion to the module and takes place over an entire day on a weekend (or over two days on a long weekend).

Venerable Chökyi teaches the Discovering Buddhism modules on Sundays (11.30am to 1pm). Discovering Buddhism can be taken as a formal program with accreditation. When you register for Discovering Buddhism at HBC, each week, you will receive the printed material. Discovering Buddhism is described in more detail on the FPMT website.

How to use the Form to Book and Pay

Fill in the form then click on the Pay Now button (you may need to scroll down to see it). In response, after a few seconds, you will be presented with the PayPal secure payment page where you can complete your payment using either PayPal or a credit card.

An asterisk next to a form field means it is required.

Once completed you should get an email confirming your booking. So be careful when you enter your email address. If not received within a few minutes, check your Junk or Spam folder. If you failed to pay when making your booking, the email contains a handy link to make your payment online by PayPal or a credit card.

We don’t issue tickets. We’ll have a list of names of persons who have booked at each event.

If you have any problems with the booking process please give us a call on 9367 4817 (Mon-Sat 10-2pm)

Privacy: We will only use the information to identify you at the door on arrival. We will not supply or sell any of your details to any third party and we will only use it for the purposes of managing attendees to this event. We do not record any credit card details.

Booking Terms & Conditions for HE Ling Rinpoche Apr 2020

Seating: We recommend early arrival. Seating is inside the gompa on a cushion or on a chair for the first 80 persons on a first-come-first-servce basis. Our centre has a maximum capacity that we cannot exceed by law. Anyone arriving after the gompa is full will be seated in our reception area or outside (under cover) at the back of our gompa. A TV relay of proceedings will be provided to those seated outside the gompa.

Payment: Payment is made via a secure payment page where you can choose to pay by PayPal or credit card. When paying by credit card you do not need a PayPal account.

Wheelchair access is available but we ask you to contact us in advance (9367 4817 Mon to Sat 10am-2pm) so we can ensure our access ramp is ready.

We do not issue tickets. If possible, bring your receipt of payment with you (as emailed to you by PayPal) or have it available on your smartphone.

You are welcome to attend and pay at the door, however, you may need to wait until those who have booked and paid in advance have arrived if the venue’s capacity has already been pre-sold.

We encourage you to subscribe to our HBC eNews, a free, fortnightly email providing a useful summary of recent and upcoming events at HBC. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the end of each email.
